Abstract

Stratospheric OH column is measured with ground-based UV spectroscopy using the sun as a light source. The distinctive feature of our method is to utilize the Dopplar shift of solar spectrum due to the solar rotation to discriminate the slight terrestrial OH absorption from prominent solar features. The method is schematically outlined in Fig.1. By comparing spectra measured on the east and west edges of the solar disk, it is possible to cancel out most of solar structures to make the terrestrial features evident.
