Abstract
Optical field 1/2 (Eω(r)exp(-iωt) + E2ω(r)exp(-i2ωt) + k.c.) posesses polar asymmetry in a point r. In particular, the average value of the cube of this field is nonzero. There are numerous effects of interaction of such a field with matter, eg. writting of a holographic gratings of the 2-nd order polarizability χ(2) in fibers and bulk glasses, phase-sensitive interference effects in multiphoton ionization [1], dynamic χ(2) grating in a solution of 4-BCMU polydiacetylene (PDA) [2]
