Abstract
Fourier transform limited pulses (ΔEΔt≥h/2π) of light at 201 nm have been generated by frequency tripling the output of a pulse amplified cw ring dye laser. The traveling-wave-dye-amplifier chain was pumped by the second harmonic output of a single-frequency injection-seeded Nd+3:YAG laser. After frequency tripling1 the output of this system in β-BaB2O4, the resulting 201.2-nm light had pulse energies of ~4 mJ, a smooth temporal profile, and a nearly Fourier transform limited bandwidth of ~120 MHz.
