Abstract
Recently, several papers have been published on the new arrangement of four-wave mixing (FWM) in cubic photorefractive crystals. In this geometry two counterpropagating pump beams have orthogonal polarizations, and the grating contrast has a different sign for each of them. It has been shown that this geometry allows a significant increase in efficiency of the phase conjugate process.1 Also, the output phase conjugate intensity was shown to be a multivalued function of the input probe intensity for some choices of parameters.
