Abstract
A new method for generating pure photon-number |n〉-states, corresponding to a highly sub-Poissonian light excitation, has been adopted for the demonstration of what we believe to be the first single-particle quantum eraser, an apparatus in which the manifestation of a quantum superposition-state may be canceled by any induced perturbation and further retrieved before the state reduction by the detector.1 A. new kind of single-photon interferometer is presented, showing the quantum features of Welcher–Weg non locality, quantum erasure,2 and delayed-choice.3
