Abstract
The investigation of the propagation of laser light in random media has proven to be a useful tool in understanding the fundamental properties of light. Recently, the study of polarization-dependent fluctuations of a single speckle spot has led to a new kind of statistics, termed microstatistics,1 which describe the polarization behavior of the many coherence areas composing a speckle pattern.
