Abstract
J-aggregates of cyanine dyes are attracting the interest of many scientists because of large second-order1 and third-order2-3 optical nonlinearities. The excitonic transition of the J-aggregates is characterized by a sharp absorption band, called the J-band, below the monomer transition. The optical nonlinearity is expected to be enhanced because of the delocalized exciton.
