Abstract
Electromagnetically induced transparency relies on quantum coherence and correlations in atomic systems induced by coherent radiation among various atomic-state configurations1 and can be traced back to the earlier observation of coherent population trapping.2 Because of the destructive interference between two absorption paths, the atoms can be rendered transparent to a probe laser tuned to the center of the resonant transition.
