Abstract
The development of new optical techniques1 that can excite spatially in homogeneous distributions of electron-hole pairs in semiconductors2 has made it possible to investigate experimentally the interplay of temporal and spatial dynamies of electronic wave packets on ultrashort time and space scales. To theoretically analyze the coupled spatiotemporal dynamics we study a situation where, in a semiconductor-quantum well, an electronic wave packet is generated by a short spatially localized optical pulse.
