Abstract
Much work has been carried out both theoretically and experimentally on squeezed light generation by resonant second harmonic generation. To generate maximum squeezing on the second harmonic beam rather than the fundamental, the preferred configuration is a cavity that is resonant for the fundamental but not the second harmonic. We report on squeezing of the second harmonic light using critical phase matching of short light pulses in beta-barium borate (BBO). The light source for the experiment was a titanium sapphire modelocked laser with an 80 MHz repetition rate. The 5-mm-long BBO doubling crystal was placed in an enhancement cavity resonant for the fundamental light. Several different input couplers, with transmission values between 0.12% and 17%, were used to couple the fundamental light into the cavity.
