Abstract
Optical microcavities (MC) employing photonic band gap structures arc in the focus of the basic interest of both fundamental and applied research. The variation of the parameters of photonic crystals surrounding the cavity layer allows to control the quality of MC and to manage the localization of the light in the MC active layer. At MC mode the optical field is strongly localized in the vicinity of cavity layer leading to giant enhancement of nonlinear-optical response of MC.
