Abstract
The angular resolution of ground-based large telescopes is essentially limited by atmospheric turbulence. The optical resolution limit is of the order of one arc-second however large the aperture diameter may be. The turbulent atmosphere induces randome spatial and temporal fluctuations in the wavefront coming from the object and drastically degrades the image.
