Abstract
New ferroelectric liquid crystals promising for the SLMs were created and investigated at P.N. Lebedev Physics Institute. Helical winding and shevrons were excluded all over the crystal volume, and low-energy molecular structures were recognized. Three types of FLC cells distinguished with the LC composition, layer thickness and boundary conditions were used for the light shutters and SLMs.
