Abstract
Bessel-Gaussian (BG) beams have been the subject of great interest for many years, particularly due to their non-diffracting nature. We determine the magnitudes of the coefficients in the expansion of an arbitrary optical beam in terms of Bessel Gaussian modes. The overlap of the beam profile with a particular BG mode is measured by implementing an inner product with an optical setup. The classical results were then tested quantum mechanically in an entanglement setup. We also investigate the ability of BG beams to reconstruct both the amplitude and phase of the beam after encountering an obstruction. This is shown both classically and quantum mechanically.
