Abstract
Optical coherence tomography is now an essential tool in the diagnosis of retinal disease. Although the quality of images produced by ophthalmic OCT systems has improved steadily over time, there will always be features of interest in the retina that remain at, or below, the spatial resolution of OCT. Simulation is a possible approach to improving interpretation of images of features approaching the resolution of OCT. In this presentation we show initial progress in developing such a realistc, full-wave, model and discuss the challenges that must be solved in order to make this model fit for purpose.
