Abstract
Based on the sintering of Tm3+-doped nanoporous glass, a nonchemical vapor deposition process aimed at fabricating a large-mode area of double clad fibers has been proposed for the preparation of active silica glass. Its spectroscopic properties were evaluated according to the detected absorption and fluorescence spectra. The concentration of Tm3+ in glass rod was measured and is up to 6000ppm by weight. The Tm3+ ions distributed uniformly without obviously central dip in the type of fiber with the size of 30/400μm.It is suggested that the method possess potential in preparing large core fiber.
