Optical trapping of nonspherical particles in the T-matrix formalism: erratum

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

An erratum is presented to correct the errors in two equations in Sect. 2 of [Opt. Express 15, 11984-11998 (2007)].

©2007 Optical Society of America

In Eqs. (10) and (11) of Ref. [1] two factors are missing. Moreover, in Eq. (11) r̂′ should be changed into Y 1μ(r̂′). The correct equations read

Iζlml′m′(pp′)=Ω′(r′̂v̂ζ)ipp′Zlm(p)*(r′̂)Zl′m′(p)(r′̂)dΩ′=4π3μY1μ*(v̂ζ)il′l16π2Kμ;lml′m′,(pp′)

and

Kμ;lml′m′,(pp′)=16π2ill′Ω′Y1μ(r′̂)ipp′Zlm(p)*(r′̂)Zl′m′(p)(r′̂)dΩ′.

The factor 16π 2 i l-l must be inserted in Eq. (11) to ensure that the integrals K (pp′) μ;lmlm are just those reported in Refs. [2, 3] and that their values are given by Eq. (12)of Ref [1]. This factor is compensated for by inserting its reciprocal in Eq. (10). In any case, all the calculations in Ref. [1] were performed by using the correct formulas reported above.
