Abstract
Wiener filters are determined for the restoration of images that undergo bilinear distortion (i.e., nonzero-spread quadratic) in the presence of additive noise. Results are applied to partially coherent diffraction-limited imaging systems. The roles of coherence, diffraction, and a priori information are assessed, and an explanation of the limitation on restorability imposed by nonlinearity is provided. Performance of the restoration filter is measured by the reduction in mean-square error and the improvement in two-point resolution.
