Abstract
Induced dichroism in molecular gases was studied using a three-level scheme. A
density-matrix calculation in all orders of the pump field that are linear in
the probe field may lead to a coherent dip in the absorption-line shape of the
probe field, depending on the polarization arrangement. Such a coherent dip is a
manifestation of the polarization pulsation induced by the fields.
