Abstract

An alpha emission detector was developed to monitor alpha contamination in the buildings of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station during the decommissioning processes. To confirm usable conditions of the α-ray detection system under the high dose environments, Monte Carlo simulations were carried out to evaluate the amount of photons emitted by the α-ray. The results agreed within a factor of 2 from the measured values.
