Design of suspended SU-8 optical waveguides for ultrasmall bendings

Abstract

The design of small suspended SU-8 optical waveguides is presented. A very small bending radius (~5μm) can be achieved because of the high-index contrast. A crossing structure is designed and optimized with low loss (<0.1dB) as the arms to support the suspended waveguides.
