All-optical Regulation of Cellular Processes

Abstract

Femtosecond lasers tightly focused on subcellular microregions can modulate cellular signaling by releasing cellular Ca2+. Life processes of cells including gene regulation, autophagy, and mitochondrial depolarization then take place under such all-optical stimulation.
