SPICE-100: A Turn-key Adaptive Optics System for Ground-Based Imaging

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

The SPICE-100 (Special Purpose Image Compensation Equipment) system offers unique wavefront sensing and correction capabilities for compensation of optical aberrations due to atmospheric turbulence, manufacturing errors, environmental effects, and misalignments. The SPICE-100 adaptive optics system combines state-of-the-art components and processing technologies providing a complete turn-key operation. Substantial performance improvements are achievable for direct imaging, spectroscopy, and interferometry applications by minimizing or eliminating optical aberrations.
