Abstract
The adaptive optics system currently developed at the University of Hawaii, has already been described in this meeting. The deformable mirror, a piezo bimorph, is controlled by a wavefront curvature sensor. The sensor signals are modulated at a 7 kHz rate. Analog electronics is used to demodulate the sensor signals and provide tip/tilt error signals. Higher order compensation is performed digitally through a PC-type computer. At the time of this writing only a sample mirror of low optical quality has been available. We describe here results obtained on tip/tilt compensation and preliminary results obtained with the sample mirror. We plan to present results obtained with a good quality mirror at the meeting.
