Abstract
A low-power lightweight piezoelectric liquid lens appropriate for ophthalmic applications is constructed. The lens has aperture diameter of 32 mm, optical power range of ~7 diopters, and the electrical power consumption is less than 20 mW. The thickness of the lens is 9 mm and its weight is 20.6 gr. The small 52 mm diameter lens footprint and very low power consumption makes this lens suitable for adaptive eyeglass applications. The working principle, fabrication and lens performance is demonstrated.
