We present and compare highly robust Yb-doped monolithic amplifier and -oscillator setups in 20/400 μm geometry achieving signal powers of 3.5 kW and 5 kW in a bidirectional pumping scheme while maintaining single mode beam quality of M2 ~ 1.3.
