Action Potentials in Invertebrate Nerves Studied by Modulated Light Changes

Abstract

Event-related optical signals (EROS) were obtained from electrically stimulated lobster nerves, using a modulated light source and heterodyne detection system. Changes in birefringent light intensity corresponded with electrophysiological measurements of the action potential.
