A Hybrid Finite Element – Boundary Element Method for Modeling Light Propagation in Tissue in 3D

Abstract

A novel hybrid method combining 3D finite element and boundary element techniques has been implemented for modeling light diffusion with combined homogeneous and heterogeneous regions. Results show less than 1% difference in boundary data between the different models.
