Abstract

With the development of ever more efficient light sources, there is increasing interest in the evaluation of the colour rendering properties of new lamps in situations where colour judgements are critical. One such situation is in hospitals where doctors may often be required to make clinical decisions based upon the colour appearance of a patient's skin. However, it is important that financial savings to a hospital should not be made at the patient's expense. Consequently it is necessary to assess the differences in colour rendering tolerated by doctors in clinical situations.
