Efficient X-ray Preionization of a XeCl Laser

Abstract

The use of X-rays for gas discharge laser preionization offers the following potential advantages:

(i) a cleaner, higher penetration source of preionization electrons than that provided hy corona or uv spark sources, (ii) a more rugged, higher repetition rate source than electron beam preionization.
