Abstract
Pulsed CO2 lasers have been previously Investigated for transversely excited atmospheric pressure (TEA) laser devices,1 in which operation is not in a cw high-power mode. Therefore, some characteristics are presented here for pulsed operation of a fast-axial-flow CO2 laser device in which a high cw power of 2.5 kW was obtained. The laser apparatus employed is the same as reported earlier2; it has a 6.6-m optical cavity length composed of four 6.5-cm diam and 60-cm long discharge tubes and is provided with two high-frequency turboblowers.
