Abstract

The contrast of optical recording is an important parameter in optical storage technology. It relates to the design of optical multilayer structure, the property of writing/read systems, and some other writing/read conditions. A desirable contrast will be obtained by carefully choosing incident beam distribution, energy, and width of a writing laser pulse. On the other hand, the contrast has direct influence on the readout signal-to-noise ratio, bit error ratio, data rate, etc.
