Abstract
There are strong requirements for developing shorter wavelength microlasers to build ultrahigh density optical disk storage systems. Cerenkov type second harmonic generation1 using a waveguide fabricated on a LiNbO3 nonlinear crystal2 is expected to be a promising approach to obtaining blue coherent light sources from diode lasers. However, there have been problems that the radiation emerging in the form of an arc cannot all be focused up to the diffraction-limited spot, and this behavior inhibited the application of this type of blue laser to precise optical systems.
