Abstract
There has been much interest in the use of Ti:Sapphire oscillators to produce ultrashort optical pulses. Recently pulse durations below 50 fs have been reported.1-7 We have constructed a Ti:Sapphire oscillator capable of producing transform limited 20 fs pulses at an average output power of 610 mW at 100 MHz repetition rate. To the best of our knowledge, this result represents the shortest pulses ever produced by a laser oscillator1 and the highest per pulse energy for pulses shorter than 35 fs.4
