Abstract

Many applications of diode-pumped solid- state lasers, such as laser radar and industrial processing, require scaling of diode-pumped lasers to higher average and peak irradiance. This necessitates an increase to higher power while maintaining both high-beam quality and high efficiency. In this paper, we describe an efficient Nd:YAG diode-pumped MOPA (master oscillator power amplifier) with output at 100 Hz in excess of 0.7 J at 1.064 μm at 2x diffraction limited, with output approaching 1/2 J at 532 run.
