Abstract

Nonlinear interactions in semiconductor microcavities and vertical cavity surface emitting lasers (VCSELs) give rise to a wide range of physical phenomena including: experimentally observed optical vortices,1 optical pattern formation,2 selfpulsations,3 and theoretically proposed stationary and dynamic soliton cavity pixels.4 in this work, we demonstrate transverse mode-locking and sub-harmonic locking in VCSELs.
