Abstract

At UT-MSL/KEK we have been promoting an ultra slow muon beam project in which thermal muonium (designated as Mu), the bound state of a positive muon and an electron, generated at the surface of a hot tungsten placed in the pulsed proton beam is resonantly ionized by intense synchronized lasers. For this purpose, we have developed an intense pulsed laser system by employing a complete solid-state laser system as pumping, oscillating and amplifying stages.1 In this contribution, we will describe the solid-state pulsed laser system and the VUV generation in the vicinity of Lyman-α of the Hydrogen isotopes by applying the two photon resonantly enhanced four wave mixing process in the mixture of Krypton and Argon gas.
