Abstract

We describe how the solid hydrogen can open new perspectives in optical physics via electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) for far-off-resonance system. We show using solid-hydrogen crystal that the restriction of phasematching can be removed from nonlinear parametric Raman processes and show also that the group velocity of light can be slowed down many orders.
