Abstract

The focused peak intensity of the multiterawatt laser pulse is determined by comparing the measured ion production curve for Ar9+ with the ADK theory. The results of these measurements of optical field ionization indicate that the maximum peak intensity is ~ 2×1019 W/cm2.
