Abstract

We have studied tunneling ionization of Argon using 5-TW, 20 fs laser pulses with intensities over l×1019 W/cm2. Comparison between the measured ion production curve for Ar9+ and the ADK theory can provide us with the maximum peak intensity as high as 2×l019 W/cm2.
