Abstract

We present a Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) statistical model for study and optimization of device, circuit, and link architecture parameters. Using the model, we explore the rich space of DWDM parameters and some fundamental tradeoffs in design of such systems, as well as the often-neglected interdependence between low level device behavior and the link performance.
