Laser-based micro-machining of high precision glass ferrules for 2D fiber arrays

Abstract

High-precision ferrules for 2D fiber arrays are fabricated with laser-based micromachining using ultrashort pulse lasers. We demonstrate sub-micrometer diameter control accuracy and excellent reproducibility on a large number of devices.
