Abstract
The Young's fringe images are a secondary product of speckle photography and particle image velocimetry techniques. The latter are utilized in experimental mechanics for measuring in-plane displacement fields of the specimen surface observed. Two exposures are recorded on a photograph, which is then probed by a narrow laser beam point by point, yielding the fringes with a certain spacing and orientation angle, which are subjects of recognition. The same fringes can be obtained digitally by a computer.
