Abstract

In order to look beyond the conventional optoelectronics technology, a high energy particle and radiation interaction scheme is considered for use at the electro-optical interfaces. Introduced interactive medium, which utilizes a relativistic electron beam to create coupling among different electromagnetic field signals (from an operating wavelength and/or frequency point of view) in the vacuum or low density materials, exhibits milder response limitations than solid-state media. Relaxation of the described material dispersion, which imposes constraint on the speed and strength of interaction (i.e., electro-optical coupling) due to the signal distortion, offers an opportunity to gain access to a higher range of the available spectrum.
