Abstract

The variational analysis of the Gaussian beam propagation in a nonlinear Kerr medium has been proven to be a very convenient and efficient method.1 The propagation of an intense electromagnetic beam in a medium with planar symmetry can be modeled by the normalized nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NSE)2
