Abstract
Cascading of quadratic nonlinearities allows us to obtain large phase shifts for all-optical processing.1−2 The tensorial nature of the second-order susceptibility lends itself to a richer set of interactions than the scalar ones analysed to date, and we propose novel schemes for all-optical modulation and transistor action based on the coherent interaction between two orthogonally polarized fundamental waves and the generated second-harmonic (2ω) in a y-propagating z-cut Lithium Niobate waveguide.
