Abstract

We report the results of detailed investigation of the thermal stability of UV side-written ultra-strong fibre gratings by isochronal annealing at temperatures up to 775°C. For the first time, we compare the properties of saturated uniform-period, chirped, and resonant bandpass structures fabricated in hydrogen-loaded fibres of several types, including standard telecommunications fibre, and high-Ge and B/Ge codoped fibres.
