Abstract
The iodine-stabilized 633 nm He-Ne laser is widely used as wavelength standard [1]. With the recently available diode lasers in the range 630 to 640 nm new and more compact wavelength standards in the red part of the visible spectrum [2], [3] are attractive. The P(33)6-3 transition is particular interesting because a direct frequency comparison (roughly 1 GHz frequency difference) with the iodine-stabilized 633 nm He-Ne laser is possible.
