Abstract
The recently developed diode-pumped Er:Yb bulk-glass laser [1], oscillating around the 1550 nm wavelength, appears to be a very interesting source for both optical communications and metrology. In fact this solid-state laser source inherently exhibits a much narrower linewidth compared to e.g. laser diodes. For both high-density wavelength division multiplexing (HDWDM) [2] and metrology, absolute stabilization of the emitted wavelength(s) is, however, required. In this work, frequency stabilization by two different techniques and at two different wavelengths (1530 and 1550 nm) will be reported.
