Laser resonators with self-imaging waveguides

Abstract

We propose a class of waveguide resonators which are based on the self-imaging properties of multimode waveguides [1],[2]. The resonators consist of waveguides of square cross section 2a × 2a and of length l = 2a2/λ (where λ = wavelength in the core), closed at one end by a plane mirror and bounded at the other by a phase matched mirror of curvature R, placed at a distance z from the guide exit as illustrated in figure 1.
